Arthur S. Fogg was born about 1860 in Maine to Sylvester Dow Fogg and Eliza Reed1. He appeared on the 1860, 1870 and 1880 US Federal Censuses in Bangor, Penobscot County, Maine, living with his parents and siblings2,3,4.

Arthur married Annie May Scripture on 20 Apr 1884 in Penobscot County5,6. They had at least five children:

  1. Arthur B. Fogg, born about 1886
  2. Nellie C. Fogg, born 1887 (died as an infant)
  3. Pearl E. Fogg, born about 1890
  4. Bertha D. Fogg, born 3 Apr 1891
  5. Oliver S. Fogg, born about 1893 (died as an infant)

Arthur S. Fogg and Annie May Scripture marriage announcement from the Bangor Daily Whig and Courier, 21 Apr 1884.

Arthur’s brother Walter D. Fogg married Annie May Scripture’s sister, Lizzie Scripture.

The 1890 US Census was lost, but I found Arthur S. Fogg listed in the 1891, 1892, 1897, and 1899 Bangor city directories, living on Ohio Street, beyond Davis Road, occupation “millman”7,8.

Arthur S. Fogg appeared on the 1900 US Federal Census on Ohio Street in Bangor with his wife Annie and children Arthur, Perl and Bertha. His occupation was given as edger (saw mill)9. In 1910, Arthur is still living on Ohio Street with Annie and daughters Pearl and Bertha. His occupation was “edger” in “mill, lumber”10. I have not been able to find Arthur or his family on the 1920 US Census, but the 1927 Bangor city directory lists Annie M. Fogg, widow of Arthur S., still living on Ohio Street with her son Arthur B. Fogg.

Arthur S. Fogg died in 192611.
