Cora A. Gilman was born 7 Jul 1859 in Levant, Penobscot County, Maine, daughter of Henry Gilman and Mary Twombly.1,2 She appears on the 1860 US Federal Census in Levant, eleven months old.3 In 1870, she appears on the US Census in Bangor, Penobscot County, Maine, at eleven years old.4

Cora married John Colby Chase on 9 May 1878 in Bangor.5,6 They had at least seven children:

  • Amy L. Chase, born about 1879.
  • Clarence G. Chase, born 13 Jul 1880.7
  • Fred L. Chase, born 18 Feb 1885.8
  • Maurice, born 2 Aug 1889.9
  • Roland M. Chase, born about 1891.
  • Etta Allene Chase, born 4 Jul 1897.10
  • Hazel M. Chase, born 13 Jun 1899.11

Cora A. Chase appears on the 1880, 1900, 1910, and 1920 US Censuses on RFD 4 off of Ohio Street in Bangor, living with her husband and children.12,13,14,15 John Colby Chase died on 14 Apr 1920. Cora next appears on the 1930 US Census living in the same house, with her son Roland M. Chase being the head of household.16

Cora A. Gilman Chase died in 1939.17
