Mary Elizabeth Scripture was born 10 Jan 1865 in Glenburn, Penobscot County, Maine to Oliver Shipley Scripture and Mary Ann Richardson1,2. On most records, her name is found as Elizabeth M. or Lizzie M. The birth year on her civil birth record, all of her appearances on census records, and her gravestone indicate that Mary Elizabeth and Elizabeth Mary are the same person. I will refer to her here forth as Elizabeth or Lizzie.

Lizzie Scripture appeared on the 1870 US Census in Glenburn, aged five years old3. She appeared on the 1880 US Census in Bangor, also in Penobscot County, aged fifteen years, attending school4.

Elizabeth M. Scripture married Walter D. Fogg 22 Mar 1886 in Bangor5. Walter was the brother of Arthur S. Fogg, who married Elizabeth’s older sister Annie May Scripture. Elizabeth and Walter had at least three children:

  1. Euna M. Fogg, born 26 Oct 1886
  2. Gladys E. Fogg, born 13 Oct 1888
  3. Manola B. Fogg, born 31 Mar 1893

Elizabeth M. Scripture Fogg appeared on the 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930, and 1940 US Censuses in Bangor, living with her husband and children6,7,8,9,10. She died in 1954 in Bangor11.
