Sylvester Dow Fogg was born in New Hampshire about 7 Mar 1822 to Greenlief Fogg and Hannah Dow1,2,3. He married Eliza Reed on 12 Aug 1845 in Bangor, Penobscot County, Maine4. They had at least six children:

  1. Hannah E. Fogg, born about 1846
  2. Augustus W. Fogg, born about 1848
  3. Mary E. Fogg, born about 1851
  4. William H. Fogg, born about 1853
  5. Arthur S. Fogg, born about 1860
  6. Walter D. Fogg, born about 1866

Sylvester D. Fogg appeared on the US Federal Census on the following years:

  • 1850 in Bangor, Penobscot County, Maine, age 27, married, occupation “blacksmith”, boarding with John Brookmuller, place of birth New Hampshire5
  • 1860 in Bangor, age 36, married, occupation “blacksmith”, place of birth New Hampshire6

In 1874, Sylvester D. Fogg ran for city councilman in Bangor, Ward 417. Also, in the 27 Jun 1882 edition of the Bangor Daily Whig and Courier, Sylvester was mentioned, as he was thrown from his horse. The paragraph reads:

A horse belonging to Sylvester D. Fogg ran away recently, in the vicinity of Merrill’s Mills, Mr. Fogg was thrown out, but received no injuries. The horse continued his flight and did considerable damage18.

Sylvester D. Fogg died on 7 Dec 1889 in Bangor19.
